About the Product & Plethysmograph
Each wave corresponds to a heartbeat and the amplitude to the amount of blood detected in your blood vessels. For best results, the height of the wave amplitude should be consistent throughout as shown in the figure above. If not, you should retake your measurement and make sure that your finger is positioned right under the LED lights and sensor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes, I don't get any reading, or it takes a very long time. Is it possible my unit is defective? I believe i'm using it as instructed.
If your fingers are cold it may take a while before a reading is registered. In this instant, you can rub your hands vigorously or submerge them in warm water, to get the blood flowing, before using the oximeter. Please also ensure that your finger is fully inserted when taking the reading. FYI, it usually takes between 8-10 seconds for the oximeter get a reading. However, there is also the possibility that you might have received a defective unit.
My son/daughter is 6 weeks old. Will this device work on him/her?
With a smaller finger chamber, this device is designed for children. However, with regards to accuracy and proper usage for babies we suggest that you consult your physician.
Is the device FDA approved?
Yes, it is.
Does it fit an adult finger?
The device is intended to measure the SpO2 levels of children or any person with small fingers. If the adult in question does not have small fingers, we highly recommend purchasing other pulse oximeters. The Acc U Rate pediatric pulse oximeter was developed specifically for children given that the regular adult oximeters are too big for little fingers. With this children's oximeter, it is a better fit for tiny fingers and thus capable of giving accurate readings.
Does this item have a warranty?
The pulse oximeter for children has a 1 year product warranty. If, during this period, the product is defective we will repair and replace it at no cost.
How high does the oximeter read? (will it read over 100?)
The pulse oximeter has the ability to display oxygen saturation level of between 35% - 100%.
How long does the unit stay on?
The pulse oximeter stays on as long as you have your finger in the finger chamber. It turns off automatically within 15-20 seconds after you remove your finger.
Will this pulse ox work on infants?
This device is suitable for children 2 years old and above. For use with children younger than 2, we suggest you consult a physician.
How quick is the reading?
If the finger is placed properly in the finger chamber, it usually takes between 5-10 seconds to get a reading. Simply ensure that your finger is stationary in the chamber while you are taking the reading. Any movement will result in inaccurate readings.
How high of a pulse rate will this register? My child has a heart arrhythmia that causes high heart rates.

When I bought the device months ago, it worked. I haven't used it since that time. I tried it moments ago and it didn't work. What could be the problem?
It could simply be a battery problem. Please note though that the battery placement for the oximeter is different from others, in that even though the 2 springs are on the same side, the 2 batteries are still required to be installed in opposite polarity.
